International School Sports Association of Phnom Penh - ISSAPP
HistoryÂ
ISSAPP Stands for the International School Sports Association of Phnom Penh. This is a group of schools that began coordinating competition between schools about 10 years ago.Â
The International Schools Sporting Association of Phnom Penh (ISSAPP) was established in April 2014. It is an initiative of the Athletic School Directors from ISPP, NISC, HOPE, and Logos. The vision is to create a league for international schools in Phnom Penh, fostering friendly competition in volleyball, basketball, football (soccer), and swimming.Â
Soon EWIS, CIA, iCAN, and LRFD joined the association as school members. Over the last 10 years ISSAPP has grown rapidly from 4 schools to 15 schools, welcoming Paragon, SISC, CIS, AISPP, Asian Hope, CIA First, and Liger to its growing roster.
To ensure fairness and simplify logistics with the growing number of teams, the committee implemented a new structure based on school location. This resulted in separate North and South committees for both boys' and girls' divisions.
Members
HOPE is a full member meaning that we enter all competitions for both Girls and Boys as well as some B tournaments when we have the numbers. Associate members can participate in fewer tournaments and compete in the B division.Â

ISSAPP prioritizes fair competition by ensuring students participate in their appropriate age groups.
Strict Age Verification: Students must play in their designated age group based on a defined birth year cut-off.
Maintaining Level Playing Field: Younger players are not permitted to compete in older age groups, and vice versa. This ensures a balanced playing field for all participants.
Team Composition: Once team selections are finalized (A and B teams), players cannot switch between teams to maintain fairness and team cohesion.
Seasons
ISSAPP holds three distinct sports seasons throughout the school year. Each season features a middle school and high school competition, while two seasons also include a primary age group category.
These seasons typically last 6-9 weeks and culminate in a thrilling two-weekend format: a grading tournament and a final tournament. Tournaments usually take place on Friday evenings or Saturdays during the day.
For sports like Track and Field, Cross Country, and Badminton, the season focuses on a single competition date when different group ages compete simultaneously.
Schools are encouraged to organize friendly games leading up to the official grading and final tournaments. These friendly matches are a fantastic opportunity for players to develop their skills and team chemistry, although their results don't impact the overall team ranking.
